In this article, I talk about how to become a more productive writer. A lot of people in the writing profession don’t get a lot of writing done. Most find themselves not doing as much writing as they’d like to be doing.

Here are really cool techniques on how to get more writing done, no matter where you are, even when on vacation.

• Go to a café with nothing but a pen and a writing pad with you.

Sitting in front of a computer that is connected to the Internet can be counter-productive. You can be distracted by a lot of things, like Facebook, emails, Youtube, blog posts, the news, and many more. One great tip on how to get more writing done is to remove yourself from such distractions by spending a couple of hours writing at a café. The reason why this is effective is that there are no distractions, other than perhaps the waitress or some noise in the background. Other than that, you are not going to be distracted too much.

Another thing you might want to do when you come down to a café is put your phone on silent mode, or maybe even turn it off because again, it is another distraction that takes you away from the task of writing.

So what we’re really talking about here is avoiding distractions with writing, and a great way is to isolate yourself.

• Go to the library with your computer.

Since I get a lot more work done by typing instead of actually writing, I would take my laptop to the library where there is no wireless access to the Internet. Without Internet access, I could not access Facebook, my emails, Youtube and other distractions that can be found online. Since there were no distractions to take me away from writing, I become a more productive writer.

Café versus Library

A café is a little bit more fun and interesting than a library, and although the first ten minutes, you might be a little distracted. But after that, you get into the zone of writing and you get more writing done, you surprise yourself.

Pen and Pad versus Computer

A benefit of using a pen and pad in a café is that you find your creative juices flowing a lot more easily than when on a computer. Another benefit is that you will find yourself editing less because you can’t just hit the backspace or delete key to edit your work.

Following these tips will allow you to get more writing done even while on vacation. You can travel the world, as I do every now and then, and still work on projects. It’s a really fantastic feeling and it gives you so much freedom in this business of copywriting.

Get away from the distractions of home. Just grab yourself a pen and a pad, go to your local coffee shop that’s not too busy, or maybe the library, and get some writing done.
